Wei-Chiung Chen-Martinez, MA, BC-DMT, LCPC, GL-CMA

Wei-Chiung, also known as Coco, is originally from Taiwan and recently started her private practice journey as a dance/movement therapist at Live Oak, Inc. Wei-Chiung has served geriatric and adult patients with acute mental illness as well as adults and adolescents with eating disorder in a psychiatric inpatient hospital. Wei-Chiung also has practiced DMT and therapeutic movements with various populations, including Chicago public housing residents, adults with chronic mental illness, adults with brain injury, and children with cerebral palsy and vision impairment.


Ashlea Palafox, MA, R-DMT, LPC, GL-CMA

Ashlea just completed the Graduate Laban Certification in Movement Analysis. She currently works as a full-time Dance/Movement Therapist at Linden Oaks Hospital with various populations including adolescents, adults, and older adults within the outpatient and inpatient psychiatric setting. Ashlea is currently the Vice President of the ADTA Illinois Chapter.

Stephanie Terrell, MA, R-DMT, LPC

Stephanie currently works as a dance/movement therapist at House of Welcome with older adults with various forms of memory loss. Stephanie’s clinical experiences have included working with older adults with memory loss and veterans within the Chicago area. To further expand Stephanie’s skills as a dance/movement therapist, she is currently enrolled in the Graduate Laban Certificate in Movement Analysis at Columbia College Chicago. Stephanie is also the proud owner of two cats and a hedgehog that she dotes on incessantly without shame.

Heather MacLaren is a registered-dance/movement therapist, certified movement analyst, and domestic violence professional. Currently, she is a dance/movement therapist and trauma specialist at Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, where she works with adolescent and adult women recovering from co-occurring psychiatric disorders and trauma. Heather has a longstanding passion for neuroscience research, and is working to uncover the neurological underpinnings behind the powerful connections made in dance/movement therapy work. She is delighted to be joining the Illinois chapter this year as treasurer!
