President:
Ashlea Palafox, MA, BC-DMT, LPC, GL-CMA

Ashlea Palafox is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT). Since 2014, Ashlea has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in the inpatient medical setting, inpatient psychiatric setting, and outpatient setting since 2016. Ashlea has worked with clients on issues related to quality of life, mood and emotional regulation, trauma, body image, life transitions and relationship challenges. Ashlea holds a bachelor of science (BS) degree in dance from Texas State University-San Marcos and a graduate degree (MA) in dance/movement therapy and counseling from Columbia College Chicago. Ashlea has continued her advanced training by earning a graduate Laban certificate in movement analysis and trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Ashlea has also studied energy healing work and completed the Attunement and Reiki I phase of becoming a Reiki Practitioner. Since 2016, Ashlea has been a board member of the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA). She currently serves on the Illinois Chapter Board of Directors as President.

Chih-Hsien lin, MA, BC-DMT, LcPC, EMDR-trained, mpa

Chih-Hsien, originally from Taiwan, is a mover, thinker, wonderer, licensed clinical professional counselor and board certified dance/movement therapist. She also forges embodied collaboration with her life partner, Ben Law, participating in ongoing projects with Khecari dance company, while deepening her therapy commitment by becoming a trained EMDR therapist, and a certified Movement Pattern Analyst (MPA). She continues to expand her practices in somatic movement (Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, Body-Mind-Centering), improvisation, and multidisciplinary artistic processes, and works with a diverse set of populations, such as geriatrics, young adults, working professionals, family, moms & babies, immigrant survivors of trauma and domestic violence, adults with brain injury, and children with various challenges on their healing journey to integration.

 

Secretary:
Stephanie Terrell, MA, R-DMT, LPC

Stephanie currently works as a dance/movement therapist at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital with a variety of populations, including adolescents, adults, and older adults within the outpatient and inpatient psychiatric setting. Stephanie is also the proud owner of two cats and a hedgehog that she dotes on incessantly without shame.

Heather MacLaren is currently in private practice at Reyngold Psychotherapy & Wellness Center, where she works with children through adults in individual and family therapy for a variety of concerns. Heather has also worked with domestic violence and trauma survivors both in community settings and in residential treatment at Timberline Knolls. Heather loves neuroscience, space harmony, ice cream, and Canada (her homeland!).
Event Coordinator:
Stephanie Kilper, MA Candidate

Stephanie Kilper currently works with individuals in an inpatient psychiatric setting at Chicago Behavioral Hospital. Aside from inpatient psychiatric work, Stephanie teaches dance to children and adults at Chicago area park districts. Stephanie spends the rest of her time hanging out with her dog and nurturing her plant babies.

 

Multicultural Representative
Isabel Mulcahy, R-DMT, LCPC

Isabel Mulcahy is a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She is a lifelong dancer with over 15 years of experience teaching ethnic dance as a recreational activity and over 8 years of experience using DMT as a clinical modality for healing. Her belief is that there is a strong interdependence between an individual’s mental health and their community connection and sense of belonging inspired her to investigate effective models for providing DMT interventions in community settings. Isabel was moved to work with combat veterans through personal experience in conflict zones and recognizing the benefit of community re-integration as part of the healing process. She has experience using creative approaches to building safe communities in after-school programs for Latino at-rick youth, domestic violence programs, and most recently with the veteran populations at facilities in Puerto Rico and Chicago.
